Announcing our Charity Partner for Mexico Collection
The International Rescue Committee!
As part of our mission at Solana, we donate 5% of sales to charities providing humanitarian aid in the countries we feature. For the Lebanon Collection, we chose the Malaak Organization, an NGO committed to educating Syrian refugees in Akkar, in northern Lebanon. With your support, we raised enough funds to hire a mental health professional to provide emotional support for children and mothers suffering from PTSD.
For our Mexico Collection, we are happy to name the International Rescue Committee (IRC) as our partner organization. Our decision was based off what we believe is the most pressing issue at this time. Donations to the IRC will go directly to efforts at the US-Mexico border as the IRC continues their support of displaced families. Since last summer, they have helped over 10,000 people in need. For each shoe, $6 will go directly to bringing families back together.
The IRC was founded in 1933 at the suggestion of Albert Einstein to assist Germans suffering under Hitler. Today, the IRC responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people whose lives and livelihoods have been shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and gain control of their future. In more than 40 countries worldwide, their dedicated teams provide clean water, shelter, health care, education and empowerment support to refugees and displaced people.
