We were honored to be a part of the Lebanese corner at Berlin Design Week 2018, which took place from September 20 - 23. Together with Beirut Design Week, Kray Studio, Khajag Apelian, Loop, and Patil Tchilinguirian, we represented Lebanese design in many of its facets.
Berlin Design Week is a new initiative that is a combination of 2 organizations that ran design festivals in Berlin: One was called DMY and other was called State of Design. This year, the two main players joined forces to create a much bigger event for a larger audience and more media coverage.
Among the design brands that were exhibiting at this year's eventwere Urban Buddy / Bannach / Bene Büromöbel / Olaf Schröder Design / Halah Ghatasheh / Andrej Visuals / Tanja Niedermann / Hans Maier Aichen / Mario Minale ao. Press Partners of Berlin Design Week include Domus, HOME, Design Report and form, as well as the most important design magazines in Germany, along with the local newspapers.
Ranging from architecture, technology, furniture, and ceramics, the exhibitors showcased a nice mixture of design in its many forms. Solana was the only exhibitors of footwear, and we received great feedback and interest from the visitors. Our participation allowed our artists' work to shine in an international light. Jad Khoury, Lucciana Baradhi, Tracy Chahwan, Lynn Atme, and Sarah Baradhi's work were the object of much interest and discussion around art and culture.
