About The Design
The Venezia is an elegant silk espadrille that harks back to the days when Venice was a critical stop along the Silk Road. At the time silk was one of the most produced and traded textiles, and from the 14th to 17th centuries, silk production flourished in Veneto. We combined this fabric with the head of the lion, the symbol of Venice in times of war and peace. The lion symbolizes the strength of the Evangelist, spiritual elevation, and majesty. He calls on us to stand in his power.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
With much delight, I look back to Venice, that grand creation that sprang out of the bosom of the sea, like Minerva out of the head of Jupiter.
Solanas are handcrafted, combining traditional techniques and modern sustainable methods. Using recycled fabrics, plant-based dyes, natural jute, and recycled ocean plastics, Solanas inspire greater love for the world and care for the planet.
Queen of the Adriatic Collection
When designing the Solana Venice Collection, we aimed to elicit the feeling of our experience wandering around the floating city. We chose elements from the culture that charmed us and tried to reflect on the mystery of La Serenissima. Our goal with each shoe was to evoke the allure of the Venetian masquerade with emotions of obscurity, surrender, enchanment, and refinement.
